Who are you helping?

EVERY REGISTRATION HELPS!

Since we started GRGR in 2015, we’ve always been focused on three things: providing great gear with custom designs, a motivating running challenge any and all could use to push themselves to their personal limits, and a uniquely global, supportive community of like-minded athletes. This year, with all that’s been going on with the COVID-19 crisis, we wanted to broaden that focus in hopes of directly supporting small businesses and professionals that we know have been financially impacted. Below you will find a list of who we’re working with and how they are being supported with your registration or how we’re working with them to increase their business:

SMALL BUSINESSES

TERRITORY RUN CO. - We’ve known Brett and the Territory Run Co. team since we met at mile 20 of the 2014 Gorge Waterfalls 50k! Not only does Territory Run Co. design and create some of trail culture’s most recognizable apparel items, but for the last 2 years, we’ve partnered with the fellow PNW company to fulfill each and every one of your GRGR registrations. They do fantastic work and we’re honored to partner up with them again. Each registration will also include an exclusive discount to use at TerritoryRun.Co

RABBIT APPAREL - rabbit apparel is a California based company that makes all of their amazing top-quality running gear right here in the United States. We’ve known Monica and her team since their inception and have been waiting for the opportunity to partner up! We are so excited to share some of their custom made EZ Tees as they have become our front-runner for our favorite running T-Shirt out there. Not only are you supporting their business through your registration, but they are offering $10 additional “rabbit bucks” for all registered runners to use in their online store! Visit RunInRabbit.com for more.

ELEVATION CULTURE - Elevation Culture has been at the forefront of designing and creating handcrafted wooden medals, awards and trophies for hundreds of events around the world. We’ve been working with Eric and his team since the very beginning in 2015 and can’t say enough great things about their work. Unfortunately, Eric has had to lay off a majority of his staff. We are very fortunate to get his amazing craftsmanship for this year’s GRGR and every registration helps support his amazing business! Visit ElevationCulture.com for more.

JOHNNY BERTRAM - New for this year, we’ve partnered up with one of our favorite PNW graphic designers to create the GRGR2020 logo. Johnny has created some of the most iconic branding in trail and ultra running (including Tiger Claw) and we’re extremely lucky to get to partner with him this year! Every registration will feature the GRGR2020 logo and art, whether in physical or digital form, that you can proudly display.

GINGER RUNNER - I started the Ginger Runner youtube channel back in 2011 with reviews and movies documenting my races and adventures. Over the last decade, we’ve slowly grown with the help of our amazing community around the world. We created GRGR as a way to bring the community together annually without having to force runners to travel around the globe to a singular destination. Now, we get to see where runners from around the world choose to adventure for themselves, it’s pretty cool! In addition to organizing the event and sorting through all the data, we will also create a video documenting the fun, as we do every year. Check out some of our previous year’s videos here. There is no doubt that GRGR has become one of our favorite events of the year!

ADDITIONAL PARTNERS

These additional small businesses have provided exclusive GRGR2020 discounts, coupons and links included in every registration to help provide our runners with some awesome savings through their online storefronts. Please consider giving them some of your running-related business:

Squirrel’s Nut Butter, Spring Energy, Trail Butter, Wy’East Wolfpack, Victory Sport Design

PHOTOGRAPHERS & ARTIST

We have partnered up with 6 incredible outdoor artists who have helped shape our sport with their talent over the years. Each has been financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis - whether through races being cancelled or losing clients, work and customers. Many have seen their only source of income decimated. Having a unique connection to each of them, we knew we wanted to support them as best as possible. Each will receive a percentage of every race registration level.

MATT TRAPPE: While pursuing a graduate degree, Matt traveled exhaustingly throughout Europe and found himself happiest while lost in the camera. Several years into an ensuing corporate career he was laid off after just 6 months into a new job. Even worse, the hammer dropped on his first day back to work after the birth of his daughter. As a new dad he was angry and confused but above all he was MOTIVATED. He immediately pulled the ripcord and gathered the courage to start trusting his gut. Matt busted his butt to self produce shoots, make promos and set up meetings in hopes of carving out a space in the industry. Since 2011 word has spread and photo shoots have grown to become integrated productions including motion content and director work in sports, lifestyle and the outdoors. See more of Matt’s work on his website or instagram.

HILARY MATHESON: As a female photographer and content creator, I am passionate about finding new ways to capture what I love about being outdoors. My over-arching goal is always to inspire others to push outside their comfort zones; I hope that you will see that reflected through my work. You can see more of Hilary’s work on her website or instagram.

GLENN TACHIYAMA: Glenn is a man of few words but has been influential in shaping PNW race photography. Here’s a great interview with Glenn. You can see more of Glenn’s work on his website or instagram.

NikkiPhoto.png

NIKKI FRUMKIN: My work is inspired by time spent hiking, climbing and mountaineering in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I am drawn to rugged, remote and wild places. My paper and watercolors come with me on my human powered adventures, small paper tucked into my pocket on big adventures or enormous sheets strapped to the outside of my pack like a sail. I am often painting from summits, ridges or alpine lakes. There is magic in painting in these wild places, in capturing the light, energy and movement of a place. You can view and purchase more of Nikki’s work on her website or instagram.

HowiePhoto.png

HOWIE STERN: My vision, in essence, is to bring to the camera what I have seen as a runner and adventure seeker all my life. The triumph and struggle, the humanity and community. To capture those slices of time to tell a story. Whether it be the stories of a race or the story of someone's life. You can see more of Howie’s work on his website or instagram.

RYAN THROWER: Born and raised in Indiana, but found true home in Washington. Always attempting to tell a story in a single frame, sometimes succeeding. These photos are collected favorites from trail races, alpine adventures, traveling, and more. You can see more of Ryan’s work on his website or instagram.
